ROME \u2014 ANDRO Computational Solutions, LLC has announced the next in a series of multiple contract awards from the Department of Defense (DoD) totaling over $20 million in value to the company.  The Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology – ASA(ALT) – selected ANDRO for a phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award to develop DeepGenerator<\/em>, a technology for rapidly generating realistic and diverse tactical data sets for various customer-specific applications to enhance their deployed machine learning (ML) models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winning team from ANDRO\u2019s Marconi-Rosenblatt AI Innovation Lab is led by Principal Investigator Jithin Jagannath, Sean Furman, Anu Jagannath, Chris Maracchion, and Haolun Li, all local residents.  The DeepGenerator award extends the ANDRO AI Innovation Lab\u2019s portfolio of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions by addressing the key challenge of data scarcity in efficiently training ML systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ANDRO technical experts stated that it is often expensive or even impossible to collect mission or application-relevant data in many practical deployment situations and under diverse operating conditions.  DeepGenerator will bridge the gap with a focus on computer vision applications, counter-UAS (Uncrewed Air System), and security and threat detection, where more representative data, synthetically generated, are needed to improve the performance of core AI solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding under the next phases will be used to incrementally expand and mature DeepGenerator\u2019s capabilities and support transitions to the warfighter domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ANDRO president Andrew Drozd reiterated that the company\u2019s upcoming contract awards will complement the above work and focus on advancements in Beyond Fifth Generation (B5G) wireless capabilities powered by AI\/ML to enhance radio communications performance, tactical situational awareness, and enable cyber\/electronic warfare systems to operate safely and more efficiently in terrestrial, airborne, and satellite applications.  One of the contracts in process of award focuses on developing Federated B5G testing environments for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to evaluate NextG AI and security solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to company officials, announcements on the subsequent round of awards will be released over the next few weeks.  Drozd continues maintaining a high pace towards converting fundamental research into products emphasizing defense needs and high-growth commercial markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
